Boko Haram Leader, Abubakar Shekau has openly confirmed in a recorded video message which was released Monday, May 5, 2014 that he is responsible for the abduction of about 300 girls from a secondary school in Borno state on April 14, 2014 and has also revealed his plans on selling the abducted girls.
“I abducted your girls. I will sell them in the market, by Allah,” he said.
Shekau also went further to confirm the stories which has made headlines of late that the girls are been sold as brides to militants at $12 each.
Shekau added that the abduction had caused outrage “because we are holding people (as) slaves”.
According to a police report last week Friday 53 of the girls have escaped from the militants but 223 are still being held.
However, continuous efforts are being made by President Goodluck Jonathan and security agencies to make sure the abducted girls are successfully released.
