Go into the world and do well but more so, go
into the world and do good” this phrase captures the reactions of the
celebrities who have offered to make the 5th edition of the Celebrity
Cleanup a huge success. Few days ago, Empress
Njamah and Governor Collins Adeyemi joined
the list of celebrities who do not think of themselves only but have found
reasons to give back to society that made them.
Philanthropic gestures are not news to the
screen diva called Empress Njamah. She
has sold herself to humanitarian activities in the nation’s capital, Abuja,
organizing not less than eight philanthropic activities annually to put smiles
on the faces of the down-trodden. This Singular act has earned her the
nickname “Nollywood Mother Theresa”.
Just
recently, the Nollywood goddess took another selfless and altruistic step
further by honouring the invitation to co-lead one thousand volunteers at the 5th
edition of the Celebrity Cleanup coming up in Abuja on the 27th of
June 2015.
Explaining why she decided to honour the
invitation, Empress Njamah, President and Founder of the House of Empress
Foundation told the Organizers that her decision to join the environmental crusade
was influenced by the project’s theme “giving back to the society that made us”.
She said the theme has been her guiding principles since childhood. She further
took time to explain how her foundation, House of Empress Foundation throws at
least eight parties yearly for the less privileged. During these parties, the
foundation gives out scholarships and gift items.
Also joining the endless list of Celebrities
for the 5th edition of the Celebrity Cleanup is the PMAN Governor (FCT
Chapter), Governor Collins Adeyemi, who is also the Chairman of the Northern
PMAN Governors. The soft spoken, self-made millionaire who is widely known as
the Director of Ceremonies welcomed the team and as his usual practice gave
bright ideas on how to make the project a bigger success.
Governor Adeyemi, who is also a Peace Ambassador
expressed his readiness to unceasingly give back to the society especially the
youths and widows.
Speaking to the press, Miss Chioma MaryAnn
Uhegbu who is the Director, Public Relations and New Media explained that the
theme for the 5th edition was carefully selected to appreciate the
society for their various kindness. She further clarified that “no matter what
you do as an individual, if your society fails to recognize you, you are
finished; thus this states why we are adding more features to this year’s
edition to include free distribution of clothing and food materials to the
people, free medical attention and the launch of 30,000 waste baskets to be
distributed at strategic places in Abuja.
Adding to this, Mr Bernard Bello- Director, Planning
and Logistics confirmed to the press that the Cleanup Ambassadors are working
with various institutions and individuals to ensure that every necessary thing is
in place for the project. Also present at the visits are Mr Nicky……. and
Ambassador Babalola Omoniyi who are Principal Partners at Cleanup Ambassadors
and Director of Operations and Project Coordinator respectfully.
