The most anticipated event of the year witnessed yet more
celebrities identifying with this year’s edition bringing to a total of 12
confirmed celebrities so far; and guess what, they all promised to storm the
place with their friends.
Amb John Fashanu
The Legendary footballer and United Nations Ambassador, Amb.
John Fashanu is one of the new celebrities that confirmed his presence for the
event. The English Television Presenter and former professional footballer of
Nigerian (Paternal) and Guyanese (Maternal) descent received the team from
Cleanup Ambassadors, organizers of the Celebrity Cleanup in his mansion in
Suncity, Abuja. Thrilled by the concept and the many benevolent gestures
associated with the project, Amb John Fashanu promised to storm the event with
some of his friends both home and abroad “even if I have to fly them down” he
said.
Expensive of Wazobia FM
Another celebrity gracing the event is James Expensive,
popularly known as Expensive. The husky voice OAP whose popular program “dem
say dem say news” on Wazobia FM is next to none also received the team in his office.
James Expensive also known as general bad man because of his notorious bottle
breaking and flogging of his callers whenever they act funny didn’t think twice
to confirm his presence on the 27th. This is because “…my life is
already sold out to self-abnegation” he asserted. Taking the team through the
numerous pictures of people his NGO, “Help one” has aided Expensive asserted
that “This is my life. I find fulfilment helping people who have nowhere or no one
to turn. I have given out scholarships to lot of students, raised funds to support
operations of unusual ailments and presently, we are empowering lots of
undergraduates and also giving driving scholarships to many. This project of
yours is a good one and may God make it come through successfully” he
concluded.
Capt. Isaac Balami
His name is synonymous with empowerment and his
constituencies are mostly the youths and the oppressed. His name is Capt. Isaac
Balami. Balami, the President of Association of Pilots and aircrafts engineers
and Public Relations Officer of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria fell in love with
the concept of Celebrity Cleanup at first glance. The Bornu-State born comrade who
also runs one of the hottest hangout spot in Abuja (Balistic Spot) agreed to
storm the event with lots of “high-class friends” amongst who are the Youth
Presidents of the Muslim fellowship and Christian Association of Nigeria.
Amb Racheal Bakam
Dynamites may come in small packages but their explosions
ricochet several kilometres from the location of their detonation. She comes in
a petite frame but her strides as she approaches you are that of a proud
panther who dominates the jungle she has chosen as a profession. Amb. Racheal
Bakam, the dynamite cocooned in an energetic human frame has never left anyone
in doubt that she is in control of her life and profession as she consistently
rules the world of Entertainment and Sports. This presenter with a difference
who is also an actress, red carpet host and founder of the Waterski and
Wakeboard Sport also confirmed to be present with her team come 27th
of June.
Celebrity Cleanup is
one of the many projects embarked on by the Cleanup Ambassadors. The exercise
which is to celebrate the just concluded World Environmental Day will be coming
up on the 27th of June 2015 in Karu from 8am to 12pm with the theme
‘GIVING BACK TO THE SOCIETY THAT MADE US’.
1,000 volunteers are to be mobilized to make a
positive impact in Karu, Abuja. The Project Coordinator, Amb. Babalola Omoniyi
emphasizes “This is the time to be grateful to your society. Join the entourage
and let’s show some love while having fun.”

Nwadinobi explained further “This exercise which has the blessings of Cleanup
the World headquarters in Australia, Federal Ministry of Environment and Abuja
Environmental Protection Board will feature the following activities:

sanitation

Free
medical services including free eye test

Distribution
of food and clothing materials to the public

Performances
from notable Musical artistes/ comedians/dance groups
·
The
Major highlight of this project is the Launching of 30,000 Customized Cleanup
waste-baskets to be distributed at strategic locations around the Area Council.
